The commitment undertaken by Cereal Docks seven years ago to promote and make the culture of prevention, workplace safety, and health increasingly pervasive is bearing fruit.
The initial idea of dedicating February 7th to raising awareness on these topics has now transformed into year-round continuous activity, a structured and organized training proposal, a dedicated function, with the creation of the HSE Office, and a series of initiatives related to prevention and the "overall health" of the company population.
To strengthen the management of health and safety issues in the workplace, the HSE Office (Health, Safety & Environment) was created in March 2023, with the aim of actively spreading the safety culture within the company by coordinating all HSE activities within the Group. Together with the Plant Managers, the HSE Office is responsible for identifying preventive actions related to safety, analysing the causes of accidents, injuries, or "near misses," and proposing rules and improvement interventions.
Along with the Group Technical Office, the Office defines projects and investments for health and safety improvement, promoting the exchange of best practices, procedures, and HSE training activities among the Group's facilities.
The HSE office is also responsible for supporting the ISO 14001 and 45001 certification process and the Internal Auditing function for the application of Legislative Decree 231/01, and collaborates with Human Resources and Communication functions in developing the HSE training and communication plan, promoting awareness and information initiatives.
Despite the significant increase in the number of Group employees, the main accident indices reported in the Sustainability Report for the last fiscal year are improving, both in terms of the absolute numbers of accidents and regarding severity and frequency indicators.
The keyword chosen by Cereal Docks for its 2024 is BALANCE, and this will be the focus of the training proposal within the SAFETY DAY ALL YEAR initiative to promote the well-being and health of the company population 365 days a year.
