ASSITOL, the Italian Oil Industry Association, renews its governance by confirming at the top Marcello Del Ferraro, the manager of Ital Green Oil and already vice-president of AGER , the Granaria Association of Bologna, with a great experience in the oil industry.
The ASSITOL associates' meeting has also appointed the vice-presidents who will support him, starting with Enrico Zavaglia, trading manager of Cereal Docks, as well as Mario Rocchi, owner of Oleificio Rm of Lucca, Fabio Maccari, CEO of Salov, and Gian Maria Martini, CEO of Unigrà.
Leonardo Colavita, director of Colavita Spa, Riccardo Cassetta, director of Biolevante srl, Roberto Sassoni, general director of Carapelli, Saverio Panico, sales director of Bunge Italia, and Ivano Mocetti, general manager of Costa d'Oro also joined the ASSITOL board. Finally, Palmino Poli has been nominated representative of the Presidency with responsibility for trade fair events.
In its activity ASSITOL accounts for the entire oily sector: olive oils, olive pomace, seed oils, spreadable dressings, bakery ingredients, in addition to the production of oil for technical purposes, biodiesel and biofuel, integrating different productions representing the remarkable potential of the Italian food industry.
This past year has not been easy for the economy, and the sector represented by ASSITOL is not an exception: Brexit, the trade tensions related to US duties, the ongoing Xylella issue, the emergency related to swine flu and its consequences on the soybean market, are all important concerns that have had a significant impact on companies which once again demonstrated a significant ability to react. However, none of these could be compared to the Coronavirus crisis.
"If there is one lesson we have learned in these difficult months, it is that we are all connected - stated Del Ferraro after his reconfirmation in the role of President - We cannot think of committing ourselves on our own, our point of reference is Europe, especially on issues such as sustainability and food security. That's why we have to face together in Italy, but always keeping a European perspective, and also the public decision-maker needs to move in this direction".
